With more and more everyday activities moving from the physical world to the virtual

activities create more than one cost. Doing this means you need to actively seek out
opportunities to eliminate redundancy and that you need to feel comfortable getting
around online and on your computer. If you’ve used email and made purchases online
before, you can follow these tips to save over $1500 a year.

The Friday Gathering for 8/24/2007

It’s time again for school to start. All of my children but 2 will be heading off on the buses Monday morning, their new backpacks full of clean paper, new pencils, and crisp folders. They are so excited and can’t wait until Monday. Their mother is as well! Every year I reminded of my youth, when summer break seemed like forever and I was excited about the return to school only to remember within the first couple of weeks why I looked forward to summer break again. This summer has gone by so fast, much faster than previous summers. It would seem there is trend. The older I get, the faster time seems to go by…getting old stinks!

My One Money Advice (MOMA Meme)

MOMA MEME GraphicI am not sure why, but every time I read MOMA Meme, my mind automatically does so with an Italian accent…”Moma Meme, it’s in there!

Moving right along…It would seem I have been tagged with the MOMA Meme from Pinyo at Moolanomy. Actually, all of us in the M-Network were tagged last week. I am not a big Meme person, and wasn’t going to participate but Pinyo is a pretty persuasive guy and he said please so what was I supposed to do?

If you don’t know what a meme is, than read this article on Wikipedia. Don’t feel bad, I didn’t at first either, I mean…Meme…what a weird word…it looks like a typo.

How to Get Your Finances Under Control – Step 6 and 3/4 – To Be Continued

This article is part of the series How to Get Your Finances Under Control

As some of you may have noticed, it has been about 2 weeks since I published, Step 6 Get Out of Debt of my How to Get Your Finances Under Control series. The reason for this to be honest is I have been struggling. Not so much as to what the steps are, as I have those and have had them since I first began the series. Nor has it been due to trying to determine what each step should contain, as I have that for a while as well. I have been struggling due to an integrity issue: Should I tell my readers how to do steps that I have not yet done?

Good Debt?? There is No Such Thing

Was reading an article on CNN Money that said the following:

Good debt includes anything you need but can’t afford to pay for up front without wiping out cash reserves or liquidating all your investments. In cases where debt makes sense, only take loans for which you can afford the monthly payments.

Bad debt includes debt you’ve taken on for things you don’t need and can’t afford (that trip to Bora Bora, for instance). The worst form of debt is credit card debt since it usually carries the highest interest rates.

DIY Financial Planning

Planning Image

When we first decided to get control of our finances and change the way we were living, I seriously considered whether we should seek the advice of a financial planner. The struggle I had of course was, if I need to get my finances under control why should I pay a financial planner to help me do that? The cost of a financial planner could go towards paying off my debt.

You Never Know What Tomorrow Holds, So Be Prepared

Image of Hope

James 1:12 – “Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.”

Update: 10/9/2007 – This post is dedicated to “Rich”. “Rich” passed away on September 26th. He was surrounded by his family when he took his last breath. He is dearly missed here at work, and my only wish is I had gotten to know him better.

Save Money At Amusement Parks

1 Timothy 4:4-5 Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it. We may receive it gladly, with thankful hearts. For we know it is made holy by the word of God and prayer.

During the summer, one of our more favorite things to do is head down to the local amusement/theme park for the day. While I enjoy riding the rides with the kids, I really enjoy just hanging out and lounging at the water park while the kids play.
