A Night At The County Fair – Memories are priceless

County Fair

We decided to visit the county fair last night. We’ve gone over the past years more frequently then not and every time I go I continue to be shocked at how expensive it is.

We actually have a pretty decent little fair. There are lots of rides, food, and animals for the kids to see. Of course my kids love the rides, and my wife and I love the food! Did I mention how expensive it was?

Carnivals for the week of 8/10

The Carnival of Personal Finance #117 was hosted yesterday over at KMull. My article Personal Finance is like Driving a Car was featured as a “solid article” (Thanks Kevin!).

The 25th Carnival of  Money Stories was hosted by the Tight Fisted Miser and included my article Does Good Customer Service Still Exist?

Also this week, the Festival of Frugality #91 was hosted by Stop the Ride!  My article
Money Saving Monday Tip #8 – Buy Items At the Right Time was included in the Frugal Household section. This article is part my weekly Money Saving Monday series.

How to Save Money by Increasing Your Expenses

Adding Blocks

While we may want things, all we really need are life basics: food, housing, transportation and clothing. Anything beyond that is a want. Granted, it may be a very important want, but it would still be a want. A need is something we require in order to survive, a want is everything else.

Using the concept of life basics, I am going to show you an alternative to reducing your expenses to pay off debt or to save money. I’m going to show you how to increase your expenses and accomplish the same thing.

Money Saving Monday Tip #9 – Use Craigslist

I like to sell things online. Garage sales are great, they are an easy way to get rid of a lot of stuff. The problem is you get nothing for it. Everybody wants something for 10 or 20 cents. Instead, by selling on-line using eBay, Amazon auctions, Yahoo auctions, or Craigslist you can make more money on your goods. Out of all of these, I like using Craigslist the most.

For those that may not have heard of Craigslist, here’s the definition from the site itself:

provides local classifieds and forums for jobs, housing, for sale,
personals, services, local community, and events.

The Friday Gathering For 9/7/2007

Whew, what a week. Seems this week I just haven’t had enough time in the day to get everything done. I’m even late on this post, oh by about 10 hours! Oh the life of blogger :-)

Here are my favorite posts this week from the M-Network:

The Carnival of Financial Planning for September 6, 2007 has been posted over at the Skilled Investor. I submitted by article DIY Financial Planning which was included in the Financial Planning category.

Make sure you visit and read through all of the great Financial Planning articles!

Does Good Customer Service Still Exist?

I believe in getting maximum value out of my time. Some months back, I realized I was spending roughly 1-2 hours a day driving in my car listening to music. I had heard about podcasts, but never really listened to one. Once I did, I was hooked. I spent all of my time in my car, walking through the grocery store, walking from the parking lot to my work building. I try to listen as often as I can to my favorite podcasts (post of my favorite podcasts is in the works).

Skelliewag.org Simplicity Review

Blogging has turned out to be much more than I thought it was going to be. One of the things I have enjoyed most is meeting people I would have never met otherwise. This includes my fellow M-Network bloggers, bloggers in the MBN Forums, and my favoriate blogging forum, the Authority Blogger Forum. It was there I met Skellie of Skelliewag.org.

The first post from her that I saw was her offer on the Authority Blogger Forum to guest post on member’s blogs. In hindsight I should have jumped all over this offer, but I didn’t. I did eventually send her an email, but I’m sure her list is huge by now.

August In Review

August was a big month for Gather Little By Little. We became part of the M-Network, a group of personal finance bloggers focused on providing you our readers with high quality and well-rounded content. In addition to the four founding members (Moolanomy, Plonkee Money, Financial Dominance and myself) we added 3 new sites to the network as well. New member blogs in August were:
