Resting after Black Friday

I hope everyone had a wonderful and joyful Thanksgiving! I also hope those of you that braved Black Friday found some great deals and stayed within your budgets! I also hope those of you that did venture out early this morning get plenty of rest this weekend!

A yearly tradition with my wife and I is to head out early on black Friday. We enjoy the time together and the adventure. Unfortunately we didn’t have a traditional Thanksgiving or Black Friday this year. My wife has been fighting a kidney stone for about 3 weeks and on Wednesday she had surgery to have it removed. Needless to say she has been is a great deal of discomfort and not feeling too great. So we stayed at home both days. She does seem to feeling a bit better this evening though.

Happy Thanksgiving and Some Bible Verses

Just a quick post to wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving. I won’t be posting an article today as I’ll be spending time with my family and eating way too much. I sincerely hope you have a wonderful and blessed day. I would encourage you to spend some time with your families sharing the things you are thankful for in your life. Oh, and keep a few Pepcid ACs handy ;-)

Here are a few Bible verses for Thanksgiving:

Psalm 107:1“Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.”

Why Do I Always Find a Better Deal AFTER I buy it?

Blood Pressure Meter

You may have noticed a new widget on the bottom of my right-hand sidebar. I added this new widget as I noticed it was offering some outstanding deals on other blogs  that had it installed. Well, today, the “deal of the day” is a $19.99 blood pressure meter.

The last few times I’ve been to the doctor, my blood pressure was higher than it should be. Each time, this was attributed to “white coat” syndrome. Recently, I went to have my broken wrist checked and my blood pressure was high again. I decided to test the “white coat” theory by getting my own blood pressure monitor and checking it at various times during the day.

Money Saving Monday Tip #17 – Saving for Christmas

Black Friday

The big shopping time of the year starts this Friday or Black Friday as it is often called. It’s called black Friday as it is one of the biggest shopping days of the year, and frequently moves retailers from “in the red” to “in the black” from an earnings and profit perspective.

Until this year, we were always scrambling to come up with enough money for Christmas gifts and frequently relied on our credit cards to get us through.

Hey, I'm on Facebook!

Glblguy’s Facebook Profile

I finally bit the bullet and established a profile on Facebook. I’m still learning the ins and outs, and not exactly sure just what to do with it yet. Here’s a link to my facebook profile if you would be interested in adding me as a friend.  So, maybe I’ll see you on there and hopefully you facebook gurus out there can teach me a thing or two about it!

Sunday Lyrics – Praise You in the Storm

I’ve been contemplating for a while having a Sunday post were I shared some of my favorite scripture versus. I hadn’t done it yet as a number of other Christian blogs do the same thing. While I believe this is a great thing to do, I wanted to be a little different.

I’ve decided instead to share lyrics from some of my favorite contemporary Christian music artist. Let me know your thoughts on this and if this is something you enjoy reading or not.

Here’s a song from Casting Crowns, Praise You in the Storm (affiliate link):

The M-Network focused this week on cars and transportation and together we wrote some great articles which are highlighted below. A number of other bloggers joined in as well with some great articles as well which we welcomed and appreciated.

I rolled out a brand new theme this week for Gather Little by Little as well. I am really happy with it, and based on the feedback I’ve received so are you. I’ve made a few changes since the roll out earlier this week based on your feedback and comments and hope it’s getting even better.

Credit is a disease you won't catch here

Wallet with The Virus written on it
One evening a few weeks ago, we stopped at our local convenience store to get some gas. I walked inside to grab a drink. I don’t recall the details of the conversation, but at some point the clerk working the counter said:

Credit is a disease that you won’t catch here!

He was referring to not liking credit cards and debt in general. I still liked the quote and found it a very profound statement. For the sake of this article, I’m going to change it to make it say what he really met : Debt is a disease you won’t catch here

How To Protect Your Personal Data When Disaster Strikes

House Fire

I’ve known for a long time that in the event of a disaster such as a flood, fire, hurricane or tornado that my personal data including health records, financial statements, insurance information, etc. would most likely be destroyed. I’ve known it’s a risk yet I’ve done nothing about it. We’ve discussed purchasing a fire/waterproof safe and even making copies and storing them elsewhere. Why haven’t we done it? I’m not sure exactly. To be honest, I guess it’s just pure laziness and the fact that I keep telling myself: What are the chances?
