Sunday Lyrics: When you come home

A Mother\'s Love
A Mother’s Love by: abraham.perez3

Welcome to the Mother’s Day edition of Sunday Lyrics. First, to all of you Moms out there, Happy Mother’s Day! I sincerely hope you have a wonderful day.

The song I’ve chosen to feature for today’s Sunday Lyrics post really captures the essence of a Mother’s love for her child, and reminds us that no matter where we are, we can always go home to the loving arms of our Mothers and they will always be there for us.

Sunday Lyrics: I am every man

For those of you that have been reading my Sunday lyrics postings for while, will know that I am a huge fan of Casting Crowns. I’ve featured their music and lyrics here on Gather Little by Little a few times. I find their combination of vocals, music and meaningful lyrics to be the essence of my favorite Christian music.

The song and lyrics for this week is I am every man by Casting Crowns. The song reminds us that regardless of your situation, regardless of who you are and where you are in life, their is hope. Jesus is the hope, for every man, women, and child.

Sunday Lyrics: I believe

In 1995, Blessid Union of Souls released what is in my opinion one of the best songs of the 90’s, I believe. Although not from a contemporary Christian group, the Blessid Union of Souls version is hands down my favorite version.

In 2006, Building 429 released their version of I believe. Their version is a little “harder” with more of a grungy undertone. I really like it, but it’s hard not to compare it to the original version. I love the sound of lead singer, Jason Roy’s, vocals. He has a very unique sound.

Sunday Lyrics: Butterfly Kisses

The Sunday lyrics song this week is Butterfly Kisses and is by special request from my wife. Butterfly Kisses was written and performed by Bob Carlisle. The song placed him and his is song on billboard top charts in 1997 and was played on radio stations around the world. The title of the original album containing Butterfly Kisses, Shades of Grace, was even renamed Butterfly Kisses due to the song’s overwhelming success.

Sunday Lyrics: Washed in the water

Came across a new group this week, or at least new to me, while surfing the internet: NeedToBreathe and the song,  Washed in the water. The group has a really unique sound that’s a bit bluesy, which I really like. They are even good old southern boys from Greensboro, NC.

The song is a great reminder that when the world turns it’s back on you, God will never let you fall. For if you know Him, you are washed by the water.

Below are the lyrics to Washed in the Water, and you can watch the video here courtesy of YouTube.

Sunday Lyrics – My Savior My God

Jesus Stained Glass

Ever find yourself wondering why things are happening in your life? Do things just not seem to make sense? Every said to yourself, or even out loud “God, what in the world are you doing?” or “God, why are you allowing this to happen?

As I am sure you know, you aren’t alone. God’s plans for our lives are sometimes unclear, but as Aaron’s lyrics say “I am not skilled to understand, what God has willed what God has planned“. God’s plans are often beyond our comprehension; however He is our savior, and would never leave us or forsake us. Just listen and pray and God will lead you. “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ whenever you turn to the right hand or whenever you turn to the left.

Sunday Lyrics: Thank you

Something you probably don’t know about me is that I sing. Well, I used to anyway. I sang in choir and did solos while in Junior High and High School and then was in Church choir and sang solos at church until I was in my late twenties. Not really sure why I stopped, beyond just life keeping me too busy.

The very first solo I sang in Church was the song Thank you by Ray Boltz. You don’t really hear much about Ray these days, but during the late 80’s and early 90’s, Ray was huge in the contemporary Christian music scene. He sang beautiful songs with deep and meaningful lyrics.

Easter Sunday Lyrics – Redeemer

Christ the Redeemer by: eks

Happy Easter everyone! Easter is often seen as a day of candy for children, decorating and hunting Easter eggs, and of spending time and eating Easter dinner with family and friends. More importantly though, Easter is the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, God’s only son, the Savior of mankind. This day, Easter, so many years ago, to the amazement of those that loved him, Jesus arose from the dead before his accension into Heaven to prepare a place for us, those that believe.

Sunday Lyrics – Lord Have Mercy

I’ve been a fan of Michael W. Smith for a very long time. The very first song I heard from him was Friends. Michael has so many powerful and beautiful songs, it’s hard to choose just one favorite, but if I had to pick, would be my favorite.

Below are the lyrics and you can listen to Michael sing it here.

Jesus, I’ve forgotten the words that You have spoken
Promises that burned within my heart have now grown dim
With a doubting heart I follow the paths of earthly wisdom
Forgive me for my unbelief
Renew the fire again

Sunday Lyrics – Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone

Amazing Grace

If you haven’t seen the movie Amazing Grace, I’d highly recommend it. It’s a touching story of a man who makes it is mission in life to stop slavery and how the song came to be. Amazing Grace has always been my favorite song, every since I can remember. No matter how many times I hear it, I enjoy it.

Chris Tomlin’s version from the movie Amazing Grace is particularly beautiful. You can listen to it here on YouTube. Below are the lyrics, which I am pretty sure your all familiar with :-) I hope you had a wonderful Sunday!
