I went through Crown financial ministries, and learned the bible has a great deal to say about money, indeed. As you said, many love to quote (or misquote!) the bible on money. Generally the most common misquote is "Money is the root of all evil" which is not said at all.
1 Tim 6:10 "The love of money is the root of all evil."
This is consistent with the idea that "no man can serve money and God" and the parable of the rich man, inasmuch as their problems are all the same, holdin money to be worth more than God.
Money is nothing in an of itself, it merely represents this world: Wealth, power, luxury. Anyone who thinks these things are more important than his eternal soul is similar to those who laughed at Noah. They were accumulating things which, very shortly, were to be washed away by the flood of God's wrath.
Noah knew better. He knew that to persue anything worldly was not only immoral, but stupid. He knew that accumulating anything that did not directly contribute to the salvation of him and his family was a waste of time and evergy, so he spent everything he had and could spend on obeying Him, and made an boat on the promise of God. Once the rains came, it was clear who had spent their time the wiser. Those with great possessions were swept away with their things. Noah was saved through his faith, demonstrated by his works, in God.

Why not as an excercise, gather all the quotes of the bible about money and put them into context, then decide what it says about money.
