One year of Stew at GLBL
We passed a fairly significant (at least for me) anniversary last week. April 7th marked the date of the first post that I wrote for Gather Little by Little, entitled, How to stand out at the workplace and hold on to your job in a recession. A few days later, I posted an Introduction to Stew (by Stew). For the rest of the spring and most of the summer, I wrote two articles a week until glblguy, the original author and site owner sold the blog in order to pursue other ventures. At that time, I began writing three posts a week and continued that until the present.
After a year, I no longer feel like a stranger here at GLBL. The readership has remained steady during the transition and I want to thank all of you for the encouragement that many of you have been to me. I enjoy writing and interacting here at the blog. Personal finance and sound biblical truth are two topics that are near and dear to my heart – passions, if you will – Gather Little by Little allows me to combine both. I think that while I am pursuing a frugal lifestyle, I am no expert. I have made my share of financial mistakes and probably will make a few more over the years . . . My goal is to share myself as an example to follow (or not to follow) and to proclaim truth. If I can prevent a few of you from making the same mistakes that Mrs. Stew and I made in our early years of marriage or if some young parents can follow the financial journey of my children and learn from our mistakes or success, then GLBL will have fulfilled its mission.
The other great resource here at GLBL is the readership. Some of our readers have successful blogs of their own, yet they still come here and often react to my articles with sound advice of their own. I never want to presume to think that my view is always correct. I enjoy reading the thoughts of others and I have even found myself to have been wrong once or twice. ;) I hope that Gather Little by Little will challenge the thinking of all of us from time to time.
There will be a few changes to the site over the coming months – reorganizing, adjustments to the layout, collaborations with other blogs, however, as long as my current day job allows and as long as GLBL community continues to support me, I plan to continue writing here. One of the first changes that you will see here is that I will formally become primary blogger – or “face” of GLBL. I do not own the blog, but I am the “steward” of the blog, if you will. Another change is that I will no longer be an anonymous blogger. My real name is Joshua Caucutt and I live near Denver, Colorado. My original reasons for being anonymous are no longer relevant. I have also been approached about writing in other venues and rather than trying to juggle a bunch of pseudonyms, I plan to use my real name going forward. My byline here at GLBL will remain “Stew”for continuity’s sake, but the “About” section will eventually contain my real name. “Stew” will become more of a nickname than a pseudonym.
In the coming year, I hope to sprinkle in a few product reviews here at Gather Little by Little. I have not done very many product reviews since I started writing here a year ago. However, I have a particularly interesting product to share with you this coming Wednesday and I am sure that there will be more in the future. Reviews can be a tricky thing for bloggers because most endorsements or reviews involve some kind of financial remuneration. This is one of the ways that free content on the internet is supported. I promise you that my product reviews will include my honest opinion and thoughts. I will never agree to a review where I am not free to share negative appraisals about the product. I hope you will see that and learn to trust my reviews over time. I have also set up a Glbl Stew profile on Facebook and will be using that venue from time to time to share articles and interact with the blogging community. You are welcome to request me as a “friend” if you would like to follow the blog in that way.
I hope the coming year goes as well as the last one has! Feel free to share any comments that you may have in the comments section below and you are always free to contact me privately via glblstew (at) gmail.com. Remember, don’t just spend money, spend time with family!
