I’m surprised no one has pointed out yet that Kit is the American Girl from the Great Depression. Seems like it’d be even more authentic to use clothes bought second-hand!

I believe some of the best things in life can be found lurking in our own God given creativity. You may find you have nearly everything you need right in the attic, basement or garage. The second hand marketplace (Goodwill, yard sales, consignment shops, etc) as mentioned above can also be a great resource for getting what you need.

Your daughter can still be Kit, just don’t buy a “store bought” costume, go to Goodwill. Look at what kinds of clothes she (Kit) wears, and get something similar. My mom did this every year. Once, I was Nancy Drew, and she made a “magnifying glass” out of foil.
