Interesting story. I hope everyone in your neighborhood made out ok too. It seems like experiences like these often times force the realization that money cannot fix every problem. Whether or not you believe in a higher power, it’s a healthy exercise to look at the bigger picture in life and realize that things will happen that you cannot control and be prepared to accept that and learn how to deal with it in a healthy manner.

stew, thanks for this article. i am glad you and your family came out safe. this lesson is what God has been reinforcing for a few years for me. He has kept me on the edge financially so that He can say to me, “hey, I’m the one who provides, I’m the one who you need to depend on.”

it has been a wild ride the last few years but He will provide what we NEED…which isn’t always what we THINK we need

Thanks for a vivid reminder of where we need to place our trust. I KNOW this lesson, but I too often drift toward thinking I can find security from my bank balance.
