The Friday gathering – Not the week I planned edition
By glblguy
This week sure didn’t turn out like I thought it would. I expected a fairly routine and quiet week where I would have some time to get caught up on a few things at the “day job” and be able to knock out two client blog consulting projects I’ve been working on. Well, things didn’t turn out the way I expected, as they often don’t.
On Tuesday we unfortunately had a critical software application fail. We worked non-stop until 2:15am to resolve it. Talk about stressful! I then had to be back up at 5:00am to get my boys to school and prepare for an 8:30am meeting I had. The whole day seems like a haze.
I did manage to almost wrap up my first large site building effort for Empty Cabin Media. Just a few small things to finish up. I was also pleasantly surprised when I received 3 additional requests for 3 additional free blog analysis reports along with 4 additional requests or quotes. The good news is that Empty Cabin Media is really taking off, the bad news is I need to find some more time somehow! But overall this is a great problem to have.
Looking forward to a snowy weekend here where I can play some PGR4 with the kids, fix a few things around the house and knock out some blog consulting work.
One thing you may notice is that I did some minor tweaking to the header and sidebar here on Gather Little by Little. I wasn’t happy with the format or location of my RSS or Email subscriptions. I also didn’t like the blank space to the right of the logo. My other challenge was fitting all of the new requests for 125×125 ads in my current theme. So I spent a couple of hours moving the subscriptions up into the blank area to the right of the logo, added a section for 125×125 ads and added some dividers on the menu along with highlighting. I hope you like the changes.
Which reminds me, if there is ever anything you dislike or would like to see different here on Gather Little by Little, please let me know. This site is for you, my readers. I always like to hear positive and negative feedback from you. Letting me know is just a simple contact form away.
The Gathering
Due to all of the other stuff I had going on this week, I didn’t get a great deal of time to read the blogs on my blogroll, but here are the top picks from what I was able to read:
- 52 Ways to Make Extra Money @ PT Money
- Where’s My Money Going? Month @ Mrs Micah
- The Bailout Bust and Beginning of Socialism?@ Jay Peroni Hotspot
- Lessons Learned in Week 1 with Daughter #2, Part II @ Don’t Feed the Alligators – Great article, but even better picture. She is beautiful.
- I Am Not A Consumer; I Am A Person. @ My Two Dollars
- Ask the M-Network – Health Savings Accounts with High Fees @ Cash Money Life
- Ask the M-Network: How to Know if a Debt Consolidation Company is Legit @ Being Frugal

If I was going to make any suggestions about the layout it would be adding a little depth to the header. Maybe some emerald green marbling together with the black. Or some really subtle faded image (like a watermark) Just so its looks less two dimensional and more memorable visually. Otherwise it looks great.
Love your work.

Glblguy,
Unfortunately, Mr. Murphy pays all of us a visit from-time-to-time.
It sounds like this week was your turn . . . hang in there.
