We almost rushed into buying what we thought was a beautiful home and due to complications with financing, the deal didn't close. A few months later, we were so grateful it hadn't! We ended up falling in love with a totally different area we had never even heard of. We were so glad that we hadn't tied ourselves down too soon. Good Luck!

I totally agree! My family and I recently moved to New Orleans and are doing the exact same thing. This is why it is also important that you do not sign any long term rental agreements. You don't want to find yourself in a position where you see the perfect home but can't buy it because you are stuck paying rent for another year.

I would have to say that the best option would be to rent until you find the perfect peice of a property at the price that is right for you.
