The Christian should try to stay free of debt at all cost. Debt is slavery. God wants us to be free. Sometimes debt is the result of greed. Contentment is great gain.

Romans 13:8a Paul says, “…owe no man anything…”<br

Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf. The bible speaks a great deal about money and good stewardship. Taking a Crown Financial Ministry class tells a lot about how God wants us to handle money, not just 10% of it. Themes of good stewardship, investing, saving, and giving run throughout the bible.
Although not a verse, one quote I always remember is from a sermon I heard once. Money makes for a great servant, but a terrible master!

ChristianPF took the verse I was going to use. :-)

The bible speaks a great deal about money and good stewardship. It also shows how relvant and up to date the Bible is even after around 2000 years.

Luke 14:28 is a great verse about the wise stewardship of money. I try not to keep any running debt. I don't even think I will like having a mortgage but since they get such good rates I may just have to keep it and not pay it off early since I could probably do better in the stock market.
Good to know the Bible can teach us the basics of personal finance too!

I can’t quote the bible since I don’t read it often, but I can quote shakespeare “Neither a Lender nor borrower be” at least I hope that was Shakespeare. Proverbs 22:7
The rich rules over the poor, And the borrower becomes the lender's slave

This is my favorite…

Proverbs 22:7<br
