Sunday Lyrics – Amazing Grace My Chains Are Gone

If you haven’t seen the movie Amazing Grace, I’d highly recommend it. It’s a touching story of a man who makes it is mission in life to stop slavery and how the song came to be. Amazing Grace has always been my favorite song, every since I can remember. No matter how many times I hear it, I enjoy it.
Chris Tomlin’s version from the movie Amazing Grace is particularly beautiful. You can listen to it here on YouTube. Below are the lyrics, which I am pretty sure your all familiar with :-) I hope you had a wonderful Sunday!
Amazing grace
How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me
I once was lost, but now I’m found
Was blind, but now I see
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed
My chains are gone
I’ve been set free
My God, my Savior has ransomed me
And like a flood His mercy reigns
Unending love, Amazing grace
The Lord has promised good to me
His word my hope secures
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow
The sun forbear to shine
But God, Who called me here below
Will be forever mine
Will be forever mine
You are forever mine

My hubby and oldest girl just sang the traditional version if this song in church tonight…..always awesome to be reminded of God’s amazing grace toward us, especially as Easter approaches. I still cannot imagine loving like that. Thanks for sharing!

This may sound weird, but for some reason one of my all-time favorite songs is Amazing grace… played on the bagpipes. for some reason it just gives me chills – sometimes even moves me to tears. That’s one song I want played at my funeral (hope that’s not too morbid).

I just discovered this song last week and it is absolutely my favorite now! And I agree with Peter that Amazing Grace on the bagpipes is stunningly beautiful, and I too want to be memorialized in that way someday…

@Mrs. Rocket – Welcome and thanks for the comment! I can’t imagine loving like that either. I guess it’s just beyond our human ability.
@Becky – It really is a good movie. I was surprised. Head to Redbox, $1.00 :-)
@Peter – I agree, love pretty much anything on the bagpipes…beautiful instrument. We often go camping at the beach around the same time during the summer. Almost every year we go there is a group of 5 guys that go walking through the campground playing the bag pipes. My kids love it.
It’s pretty on the banjo too :-) (yes, I play banjo)

Thank you so much for sharing. It is becoming more and more unusual to find quality material. Seems tons of sites are providing nothing unique – just scraped content or rehashed rss feed.
