Sunday Lyrics – Breath of Heaven

My favorite Christmas song of all time is Breath of Heaven by Amy Grant from her CD Home for Christmas. The music and lyrics truly make you feel the emotions felt by Mary as she walked the path towards the birth of our savior Jesus Christ. You’ll find the powerful lyrics below and here’s a link a short YouTube video featuring the song.
I have traveled many moonless nights,
Cold and weary with a babe inside,
And I wonder what I’ve done.
Holy father you have come,
And chosen me now to carry your son.
I am waiting in a silent prayer.
I am frightened by the load I bear.
In a world as cold as stone,
Must I walk this path alone?
Be with me now.
Be with me now.
Breath of heaven,
Hold me together,
Be forever near me,
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven,
Lighten my darkness,
Pour over me your holiness,
For you are holy.
Breath of heaven.
Do you wonder as you watch my face,
If a wiser one should have had my place,
But I offer all I am
For the mercy of your plan.
Help me be strong.
Help me be.
Help me.
Breath of heaven,
Hold me together,
Be forever near me,
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven,
Lighten my darkness,
Pour over me your holiness,
For you are holy.
Breath of heaven,
Hold me together,
Be forever near me,
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven,
Lighten my darkness,
Pour over me your holiness,
For you are holy.
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven.

I love this song! My other Christmas favorite is “Mary Did You Know”. I cannot imagine what Mary must have been thinking & feeling. I’m not sure I would have been that mature at such a young age. Hmmmm. I’m not sure I’m that mature now….. :)

I like that one as well. I have listened to this song many many times, and every time it gives me chills.

I love this song! Coincidentally, when I visited the Texas State Capitol last week, they were playing an instrumental rendition of this song in the House of Representatives chamber. I couldn’t quite remember the name of the song, but your blog entry put all the pieces together. Thanks!
