Free Money: Wachovia and ING
By glblguy
Here’s an easy way to make some free money. I bank with both Wachovia and ING. Both are currently offering referral deals:
Wachovia will give both you and I a $25 gift card when you open a new checking account. A minimum balance of $100 is required and the account must stay in good standing for 30 days.
INGDirect will give you $25 and myself $10 when you open a new INGDirect Orange Savings Account. It requires a minimum deposit of $250 which must stay in the account for 30 days. ING’s accounts offer a high interest rate and their online banking interface is simple and easy to use. Orange Savings accounts make a great place to store your Emergency Fund or to create Savings Accounts for your children.
Update: The Wachovia offer is no longer valid

Can you send me a referral for Wachovia? I could put some of my baby emergency fund money in there.
I have had ING for years now. Did you refer your family to ING? Years ago when they had the $25 promo for anyone that opened up an account with at least $1, I signed up my husband and my kids. My account got $25 for each, and their account got a bonus too.

Erin, you’ve got mail!
I didn’t refer my family, as they now have the minimum $250 restriction so for my family of 8 that’s a lot of money! Might try to think through this a bit…if I did it over time….hmmmmm…..
